moved in

I finally finished moving everything into my new place last night. I moved from West Jordan to Salt Lake City (Utah) in case you were wondering. I’m certainly glad that’s over with. I’m pretty pooped though, and my entire home is in complete disarray so I think it’ll be a few more days before I feel like I’m up to speed again. I really like the apartment though. I’ll snap some piccies once I remember where my camera is. The living room is huge, which is really cool. I’m gonna setup my myth box (again) and get it all decked out.

In other news, I’m thinking of getting a Nintendo Gamecube so I can have some games to play. I haven’t had a gaming console since my Atari days oh so long ago. Things sure have changed since then. I’ll bet I still stuck at this decade’s variatons of Pitfall and Missile Command.

Although I’ve only lived up here for all of two days so far, I really like Salt Lake.  It’s really growing on me rather quickly.  For one thing, it’s nothing like any downtown I’ve ever seen.  The streets are incredibly wide, and traffic is amazingly light (even during “rush” hour).  The cool thing though is that there are all kinds of shops all over the place.  I already found a cool little donut store.  There’s a lot of stuff to check out.  I’m excited.

And, I live right next to a huge park (Liberty Park).  It’s less than a block away, and its really nice.  I went walking through there on Sunday and it took me about ten minutes of leisurely walking to cross from one end to the other.  It has an aviary too that you can go in and wander around and check out birds.  Fun stuff.

One thing I really gotta be careful about is pedestrians.  They are everywhere.  I’m afraid I’m going to run one of them over at any moment since I’m not accustomed to checking for them at all.  I do like the idea that you can walk most everywhere though.

All in all, I’m pretty excited.  When I first decided to move up, I thought it might be an interesting adventure, but I’m far past being sold on it now.  I’m all ready to jump in and find out what the local life is all like.  It’s really fresh change from everywhere else I’ve lived in Utah.  Although if I had my way, I’d move to Cedar City in a heartbeat.  Someday.  For now, I’m a city boy again. 🙂
