I loved this movie when it came out. I was really surprised by how much I liked it, since after watching the trailers a few times, I didn’t think I’d get into it that much. I was pleasantly surprised. Very original. DreamWorks always does a good job of coming up with new stuff that is also very high quality. The story takes a few twists which I definitely wasn’t expecting. I literally got up early in the morning to rush to Target to get my copy on 4K. Worth the loss of sleep (I sleep in late because I have insomnia, so me getting up at 8 a.m. is my equivalent of getting up in the middle of the night).
The second trailer has some cool easter eggs, the criminal profile for Mr. Snake is just hilarious:
If you don’t want to zoom in, here’s the details, aside from his body being used as a fingerprint:
Alias: The Chicken Swallower
Criminal Activity:
- Broke into Mr. Ho’s Pet Store
- Ate all the mice at Mr. Ho’s Pet Store
- Ate all the canaries at Mr. Ho’s Pet Store
- Ate all the guinea pigs at Mr. Ho’s Pet Store
- Tried to eat Mr. Ho at Mr. Ho’s Pet Store
- Tried to eat the doctor who tried to save Mr. Ho
- Tried to eat the policeman who tried to save the doctor who tried to save Mr. Ho
- Ate the police dog who tried to save the policeman who tried to save the doctor who tried to save Mr. Ho
That’s about as far as my review skills go on this one, if you want a more in-depth one, check out the review on blu-ray.com where they also rank video and audio quality.
There is one important thing I’ll add. The 4K release has all the special features in 4K as well. This is rather new to me, my other 4Ks (only a few at this time) have just the movie itself on the UltraHD disc, and then all the extra content on the BD.
Here’s a list of the special features (the packaging doesn’t list them all out):
- Maraschino Ruby, a new short
- Deleted scenes
- Devise the Plan: Making The Bad Guys
- Assemble the Crew
- It’s Showtime: Cast Table Read
- Snake’s Frozen Pop Shop
- From the Drawing Room
- Feature commentary with director and others
I hope you enjoy the movie! You can purchase and stream it most anywhere.
